As a stylist, I am very keen on all pieces that are “essential” and think that closet staples are truly the foundation of any wardrobe. That said, these staples don’t necessarily always have to be the most basic t-shirt or pair of jeans (although these are great to have!) the term “ELEVATED ESSENTIALS” is something I use constantly. An elevated essential is a piece typically in a neutral or classic pattern like houndstooth or plaid, it’s something that you can turn to time and time again but can pair with pretty much anything you own. What makes it elevated? Maybe it’s the texture, a cut out, a style or fit like an ankle-crop denim or girlfriend straight-leg fit. Many times, these elevated items come in a really great fabric like a cashmere or detail like ribbing that just takes it up a notch.
